How to Write a Lot: Overcoming Procrastination, Perfectionism and Writers Block
Grub Street Writers

Join Hillary Rettig, author of The Lifelong Activist, for a weekend that will forever change your relationship with your writing. People suffering from procrastination or a block often think they’re lazy, undisciplined, or otherwise lacking, but they really aren’t lacking at all: they are merely separated from their creativity and power by internal and outside constraints. Liberate yourself from those constraints, as this workshop teaches, and you will see your energy, discipline, commitment, etc., “magically” reappear – and your writing take off!

Creative writers of all kinds, as well as academics and those who write a lot on the job. will all find the workshop useful.

Workshops on time management and overcoming procrastination

Rutledge, MO, July 17-18, 2010
Living a Joyful Activist Life
Dancing Rabbit EcoVillage

This workshop discusses the building blocks of a happy and productive life: mission management (to figure out your authentic goals and path); time management (so you can develop a schedule that helps you focus on your goals); and fear management (so you can get past procrastination,
perfectionism and blocks to success). All topics are discussed in the context of activism and progressivism, with examples from several activist movements, and referencing George
Lakoff’s “nurturant parent” model of progressivism and his dictim that it is the duty of all progressives to live happy lives themselves, along with helping others be happy. Participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences and insights, and the workshop leader will share concrete and easily-achieved strategies for improvement, so that participants leave feeling informed, inspired and empowered.
